That crash at the shop on 3rd street that made me double check every tool offset now
A guy on the night shift ran a finish pass with a .125 endmill that was set to .250 and it snapped so hard it put a dent in the machine door. Has anyone else had a tool offset mistake that cost real money to fix?

Did you check if the spindle took any damage from the vibration? I've seen that happen before and it turns a $50 mistake into a $5,000 repair real quick.

Five grand?! Man, that's terrifying. I always thought spindles were tougher than that, but I guess vibration really does a number on them over time. Did you catch it before it went that far?

Oh man, totally been there! I caught the vibration early (barely) and swapped the spindle right away, which was way cheaper than waiting for a full blowout. Saved myself a headache by just replacing it instead of hoping it held up.
