Brewing coffee with a sock filter changed my mind about fancy gear
Most folks say you need a pricey setup for great taste, but my old sock method gives a smooth cup that rivals any machine. It's messy, sure, but the result is worth the extra cleanup.

Found the same thing with a basic pour-over setup. It cost almost nothing but makes coffee just as good as my old expensive machine. The process is straightforward and doesn't need any special skills. Now I save money and still get a great cup every morning. Fancy gear is often more about looks than actual taste.

Totally get that, my cheap french press makes coffee just as good as my friend's fancy machine. Sometimes the simple ways work best.

Right? It's funny how much cash people drop on those shiny machines... my buddy's setup looks like it could launch a spaceship. Makes a cup that tastes like it cost about four bucks in parts. Meanwhile my thirty dollar press is doing the exact same thing in the corner without needing a manual. The marketing on those things is just next level... makes you feel like you need a degree to operate a coffee maker.
