My neighbor's simple question about the JFK files made me pause.

We were talking about old government papers over the fence, and he just asked, 'What if the real story is just a bunch of people being bad at their jobs, not a big plan?' That stuck with me for a week. Do you ever find the 'incompetence over malice' idea holds up in most cases?

Remember my old boss who lost a whole truckload of forms, just pure chaos.

Pure chaos" undersells it. That's the kind of mistake that gets a whole department audited. I'd be surprised if he kept his job after that.

Seems like a bit much for one mistake.

Feel for you, @harperr82. That's a career-ending level of bad. Losing a single box is one thing, but a whole truck? That shows a total system failure. There's no coming back from that kind of mess. He had to have been fired, no question.
