Best week I ever had fixing credit was a total accident

Back in 2018 I was helping a buddy in Phoenix clean up his report. He had like 7 old collections from a storage unit he forgot about. I sent out disputes on a Tuesday, just the basic template from Credit Karma. By Friday, 5 of them were gone. Poof. No fight no nothing. The other 2 got deleted the next week after I sent a follow up. Felt like winning the lottery. Never had a string of luck that fast before or since. Most weeks it's a grind calling and waiting months. Anyone else ever catch a wave like that with deletions?

Jump right into the law about how they have to validate within 30 days. Most people don't know the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act gives them a strict timeline. If the collection agency doesn't respond to a dispute within 30 days, they have to delete it. I've had it happen twice where I sent a dispute right at the end of a month, and the agency just let it slide because they were too busy or disorganized. The key is timing. Send it at the tail end of a billing cycle when their staff is swamped with other paperwork. Worked for me on a medical bill from 2016 and a cable bill from 2018.

Nah I'm with Eric on this, that timeline sounds way too convenient.

Wait so you're telling me you used a basic Credit Karma template and wiped out 5 collections in 3 days? I gotta call BS on that a little bit. Not saying it didn't happen, but those generic templates usually get thrown out or just get a quick "validated" response. What did you even put in the dispute? I'm genuinely curious because I've been doing this for years and the only time I've seen speed like that is when the collection agencies were already slacking on their paperwork or the accounts were way past the statute of limitations. Did you check if those storage fees were from the same company or did they get sold to different junk debt buyers?

Exactly. Checked the original creditor first before touching any templates.
