Picked a zoom meeting over an in-person cult survivor support group last month

I figured the zoom would be easier since I'm on the road, but the in-person group I skipped turned out to have a former NXIVM member who was doing a Q&A that night. Has anyone else regretted choosing the convenient option and missing out on a legit face-to-face connection?

Wait, a former NXIVM member? You're kidding, that's insane to miss.

Kicked myself for a week after skipping a local meetup where a therapist was talking about high-control groups.

totally feel you on that "kicked myself" thing, i did the same thing after skipping a local recovery meetup 'cause i thought the zoom would be easier. turns out a guy who'd been in a group for like 15 years was sharing that night, and hearing stories face to face hits different than over a screen.
