Dropped $300 on a phishing simulation tool that flagged my own password reset emails as threats

After 3 weeks of constant false alarms from the software, I realized the algorithm was useless for real threats because it couldn't tell the difference between a fake invoice and a routine payroll email, has anyone else had better luck with a different vendor?

Sounds like a waste of cash when your own IT team could handle this for free.

My IT guy is me, and I can barely restart a router.

Depends on the size of your IT team. If it's just one guy who's also the office manager and part-time coffee runner, he probably doesn't have the hours to mess with network gear. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay a pro for two hours than have your own guy fumble through it for a week.
