Found a stat on election turnout that caught me off guard
Checked the numbers from the last midterm in my county and only 38% of registered voters actually showed up. Where did you find the real turnout data for your area?

my buddy Chad actually drove to a town hall meeting last spring" - wait, really? That's wild to me. I mean I guess I shouldn't be surprised but the fact that he was the only one who showed up for a whole hour just with the mayor talking about stray cats is pretty funny but also kind of sad. My county had a meeting about the new school budget and I heard it was like six people plus the board members just sitting there in this big empty room.

Start noticing how nobody shows up for school board meetings or town halls either. Same people complaining about potholes and schools never bother to actually vote or speak up. It's like everyone expects things to magically fix themselves while they stay home.

only 38% of registered voters actually showed up" - honestly that's higher than the turnout for most of my D&D sessions, lol. I checked my county board of elections site, they had a PDF buried three clicks deep. Ended up finding my precinct's data on some local news site that actually bothered to parse it. 38% sounds about right for my area too, guess we're both living in the "couch potato district".

My buddy Chad actually drove to a town hall meeting last spring, got there early even. Waited 45 minutes before someone showed up to unlock the door, and then it was just him and the mayor talking about stray cats for an hour. He said it was the most depressing open mic night he ever went to.
