Came across a study that said taking way fewer steps can actually reduce inflammation markers in some people. Something about how constant movement keeps your body in a low level stress state. Makes sense why you'd feel better honestly. We're told 10k steps is the holy grail but nobody questions if that's even good for everyone. Probably your body was just happy to get some real rest instead of being on the go all the time. Maybe the whole fitness industry has us chasing numbers that don't actually matter for how we feel day to day.

But was the study looking at people who are already active or people who are sedentary? That part matters a lot. If you're going from 15k steps to 5k, maybe the rest helps. But if you're already at 5k and drop to 1k, you might see the opposite effect. Also, what kind of inflammation markers were they measuring? Some of those go down just from sleeping better or eating differently. The whole 10k thing was literally a marketing gimmick from a Japanese pedometer company in the 60s, there's nothing scientific about that number at all.

Oh it's the same with everything now isn't it. Everyone's chasing some number or goal some company made up and we forget to just listen to how we actually feel.
