Found out my favorite "expert" source was just rewriting Wikipedia after 2 years of citing them

Had a similar thing happen with a DIY blog I followed for years. Turns out the guy was just copying paragraphs from old library books and calling it "original research." Felt like a total fool when I found out, wasted so much time on that nonsense.

Feels like half the internet is just rewarmed old library books now.

Jeez, that's rough. But I gotta ask - how far did you dig before you figured it out? Like, did you catch it from one weird sentence that didn't sound like the rest, or was it something more obvious like a date or a mention of a typewriter in a 2023 article? I'm curious because I've been burned by trust in a few blogs too, and now I'm second-guessing half the stuff I read. It's wild how easy it is to just copy-paste old text and call it new.
