Stopped at a shop in Bakersfield and saw an engine hoist rigged with bungee cords
The whole shop had that greasy smell of diesel and sweat. I stood there for a solid five minutes watching him work under that load like it was nothing. He said he learned the trick from his grandpa who ran a fleet of old Fords. I get that sometimes you use what you got, but bungee cords on a engine hoist feels like tempting fate. The part I needed was a injector seal that cost me 12 bucks, but the lesson I got that day was free.

That mechanic's grandpa with his old Fords reminds me how every generation has their own version of making stuff work longer than it should. It's like how people keep driving cars with check engine lights on for years, just knowing what sounds normal and what means trouble.

Right? That sixth sense is real. Seriously impressive how they just know.

So are we saying cars have evolved feelings now? @angela_morgan probably has her check engine light as a permanent dashboard decoration at this point. Mine has been on for three years and I just treat it like a badge of honor. It's like the car's way of telling me it's fine, just a little dramatic.
