Why does nobody talk about those drawing tablet screen protectors that ruin your pen nibs

I dropped $35 on a matte screen protector for my Huion tablet 3 months ago and now I am on my third set of pen nibs. The texture felt great for the first week but it chews through the plastic nibs like crazy. I saw a bunch of people online raving about them for that paper feel but nobody mentions how often you have to replace nibs. I already spent an extra $18 on nib replacements and that is more than the screen protector itself. Has anyone else had better luck with a different brand that does not destroy your nibs so fast?

Are you using the same brand of nibs that came with your tablet? I went through this exact problem with a different matte protector and it turned out the replacement nibs I bought online were just softer plastic than the factory ones. The screen protector itself was fine once I switched back to the official Huion nibs. That paper texture is worth the tradeoff for me since I do a lot of sketching and the smooth glass makes my lines slip everywhere. I also found that rotating the pen while drawing helped spread the wear across the nib instead of grinding down one side super fast.

@shanec61 I get where you're coming from but the nib thing really depends on the brand. The factory ones last way longer for me than the cheap packs I grabbed on Amazon. Honestly rotating the pen a bit helps a ton too, my last nib lasted almost two months. Different strokes I guess but the paper feel makes a real difference for my shaky lines.

Come on, "worth the tradeoff"? You're telling me you're okay with chewing through nibs every few days just for some paper texture? I tried a matte protector on my old tablet and the nibs wore down so fast I was replacing them every other week. It's not "fine" if I'm spending more on nibs than I did on the screen protector. The whole reason I got a tablet was to avoid the mess of paper, not to recreate it with a bunch of worn out plastic chunks. If your lines slip that bad on glass, maybe you just need a better grip or a different pen pressure setting. This paper texture thing feels like a gimmick to me when you could just adjust your technique instead.
