The moment I realized my "organized" downloads folder was actually a digital landfill
I had like 40 folders in my downloads folder, all labeled stuff like "tax stuff 2023" and "random pdfs" and "photos to sort someday." Thought I was being smart. Then last week I needed a PDF of my furnace manual for a job and searched my whole computer for 20 minutes. Found it in a folder called "important docs" inside another folder called "old junk." The manual was right there the whole time but buried under three layers of folders I never look at. Felt like I was just hiding junk instead of dealing with it. Has anyone else found that more folders just means more places to lose stuff?

Wait, you had a folder called "stuff" too? I thought I was the only one who did that.

Ugh man, that hits way too close to home. It's like how my garage ended up - just boxes inside boxes inside more boxes. What started as a simple "I'll sort this later" became this whole archaeological dig of old decisions and half finished projects. I think that's just how life works though, right? You keep layering stuff on top of other stuff until you forget what the original folder was even for. And then one day you're opening "stuff" and its just a monument to all the things you meant to get to but never did.
