I finally hit 50 countries as a digital nomad and it felt like nothing
Everyone talks about building a life not a resume, but after crossing country 50 in Thailand last month I realized I don't remember half the places I visited. I spent more time looking for WiFi than actually experiencing anything. Has anyone else felt like the number just becomes a vanity metric after a while?

Yeah "sit with a place for a month" is exactly it. I did two years in Southeast Asia hopping islands and cities every week or two, and when I look back it's all just a blur of hostels and coffee shops with good WiFi. Last year I spent three months in Medellin and actually remember the names of the baristas, the guy who sold arepas on the corner, that one park where stray dogs would follow me on runs. The 50 countries thing looks cool on Instagram but it's the slow spots that actually changed how I think about stuff.

Counts can become just numbers if you let them, but 50 countries shows real grit and adaptability. Every border crossing taught me something about patience, navigation, and human nature even if the temples blur together. Maybe the value is in how those experiences changed you rather than remembering every detail. Sounds like you need to slow down and actually sit with a place for a month instead of racing to the next stamp.
