My friend told me to always get a local SIM card in Bangkok, but the airport kiosk totally ripped me off

Totally fell for the same trap on my first trip. Paid like triple the normal price for a week of data that barely worked. The guy at the booth was so pushy and made it seem urgent. Now I just take the train into the city and buy a SIM at any 7-Eleven for a fraction of the cost. What did they charge you?

Ugh yeah @derekhunt, those airport guys are the worst. I paid like 80 bucks for a SIM that died after two days.

Ever think maybe they're just paying for the convenience? Sometimes that airport price is worth it when you're tired and need a connection right away.

Maybe @lee18 is onto something with the convenience angle.
