Just realized I don't need to tile behind the stove after visiting my sister's kitchen

She redid her kitchen last month in Portland and put up a stainless steel backsplash instead of tile behind the stove. I was dead set on subway tile for mine but after seeing how easy it is to wipe grease off metal versus scrubbing grout, I totally changed my plan. Has anyone else switched to a non-tile backsplash and regretted it or loved it?

Wait, isn't brushed nickel and stainless steel basically the same finish though, or am I mixing them up? I had some brushed nickel cabinet handles and they smudged like crazy. But @amyh12, you're saying a full sheet of it behind the stove holds up good with just a damp cloth? That's WAY better than my sister's stainless steel which shows every single fingerprint. Maybe I need to look into that specific material cause I am TOTALLY sold on ditching tile now. Grout is just too much of a pain to keep clean and scrubbing it is the worst.

Swapped my tile backsplash for a solid sheet of brushed nickel last year and it's been a MASSIVE win for me. Grease just wipes off with a damp cloth and it looks brand new after months of frying pans and oil splatters. I was worried it might show fingerprints or look too cold but honestly it makes the whole kitchen feel cleaner and more modern. The only thing I had to get used to was not having a pattern to hide smudges but a quick spray cleaner fixed that habit. Never going back to grout behind the stove again it's just too much work.

Oh man, that sounds like a total game changer honestly!
