TIL you can fix a warped door with a wet towel and the sun

I was out on a delivery last week in Austin and the guy's back door was totally stuck, wouldn't close right. He just threw a damp towel over the warped spot and left it in direct sunlight for a few hours, said it relaxes the wood fibers back to shape. Anyone tried this on hollow core interior doors or does it only work on solid wood?

My buddy Mike tried this on his bathroom door and it worked like a charm.

Did @felixhenderson say the sun exposure changes based on the door material? Actually I think the steam from the towel is what does the heavy lifting, not the sun. On hollow core doors that thin veneer can buckle if you overdo the moisture, so you gotta go lighter on the towel and check it every 10 minutes instead of letting it sit longer like on solid wood. The sun exposure time doesn't really change much between the two, it's the steam that needs the adjustment.

Hollow core doors are trickier since they're basically cardboard with a thin veneer, but the steam from the wet towel can still help relax the outer layer enough to fix minor warping. Does the sun exposure time change much for those thinner materials versus solid wood?
