Showerthought: My DIY spice rack project ended with a cinnamon disaster

Okay so I was super excited to build a custom spice rack for my kitchen to get organized. I grabbed some wood pieces and set up my drill in the middle of the counter. But then I accidentally knocked over a giant container of cinnamon while working, and it went everywhere. I mean everywhere, like a dusty brown cloud covering my floor, cabinets, and even my cat. My cat started sneezing like crazy and ran around leaving powdery paw prints all over the house. I spent the next two hours trying to clean it up, and now my whole place smells like a weird bakery. The rack itself looks okay, but I learned to keep all food items far away from DIY zones. At least my kitchen smells interesting now, lol.

Man that cinnamon cloud sounds way too familiar. Did a similar thing last year with a brand new bag of cumin trying to install a shelf above my stove. Turned my whole kitchen yellow and it smelled like tacos for a solid week, not in a good way. The worst part was finding little piles of it inside cabinets days later. Makes you respect how far powder can travel. Your cat reaction is the perfect final touch to that kind of mess.

Actually whole cumin seeds are way less messy than the ground powder. They just scatter and roll into corners, they don't make that crazy cloud. Finding little brown seeds for weeks is annoying, but it doesn't coat everything in yellow dust like turmeric or something would.

Nothing beats a home improvement project that ends with your cat becoming a walking spice rack. I mean, at least you got a free air freshener out of the deal, even if it's a weird bakery smell. Maybe next time just glue the cinnamon to the wall and call it abstract art.
