Tried the 'paint conditioner' hack everyone raves about, now my walls look like crap

I added Floetrol to a gallon of Behr paint like every DIY video says, and it just made the coverage super thin and streaky across my 12x14 living room. Took me 3 coats to get even color where I usually only need 2 with straight paint. Did anyone else get worse results with paint conditioners or did I just use too much?

Yeah totally, same thing happened to me, I agree with @the_eric that less is way better.

Did you try mixing it in a little at a time instead of dumping the whole bottle in at once? I've had way better luck using about half the recommended amount of Floetrol and still getting that smooth finish without losing coverage. Maybe start with a quarter cup per gallon next time and see if that balances things out.

Nah man I gotta disagree here. I've been using the full recommended amount of Floetrol for years and my finishes come out perfect every time. The issue isn't the amount of Floetrol its how you mix it. If you dump it in all at once without stirring properly you're gonna get that thin watery mess no matter what. I use a drill mixer attachment and let it run for a solid 2-3 minutes. Coverage is fine as long as you haven't thinned the paint down too much already. Half the recommended amount sounds like you're just leaving performance on the table.
