Serious question, has anyone else had a pump clog on them in the middle of a big channel job?

Happened to me last spring on the Mobile River project. We were moving about 1,500 cubic yards a day and the main pump just choked on a piece of old timber. Took the whole crew six hours to shut down, clear the line, and get back to work. Now I double-check the grates every single morning before we even fire up. What's the fastest way you've found to clear a bad clog without a full teardown?

But letting it run can wreck the impeller. @margaret736, have you actually seen that work on a serious clog, like with rebar or a big rock? We keep a high-pressure water jet on the barge now for back-flushing the line before we take anything apart.

Just let it run through, it usually clears itself.

That's how small problems become big ones.
