Found a way to get Mom's pills sorted in under 10 minutes flat
My mom is 78 and on 6 different medications with different times of day. I was spending like 30 minutes every Sunday sorting her pill organizer and always messing it up. Last week I tried using a simple pill tray with removable compartments instead of the regular 7-day box. I label each compartment with a sticker for morning, noon, evening, and night. It takes me maybe 8 minutes now and I haven't made a single mistake since. Has anyone else switched to a different system that saved you time?

I'll be honest, I used to think those extra compartments were just gimmicks and a regular weekly box was good enough. But after watching my dad mix up his evening and bedtime meds twice in one week, I finally tried a tray system similar to yours and it completely changed my mind. The separate compartments with time-of-day labels make a huge difference, especially when you're in a hurry or feeling tired. Now I'm actually thinking about getting a timed lid that only opens at the right hour, just to be extra safe. Your mom is lucky you're putting this much thought into keeping her pills straight.

Wait, isn't adding more tech just making things more complicated though? My aunt got one of those timed lids and it ended up being a total headache - the batteries died and she couldn't get to her nighttime meds until I drove over at 10pm to fix it. Plus, if someone's already mixing up morning and evening doses, I feel like the real fix should be bigger, clearer labels right on the bottle itself, not another gadget to fail on you. Sorting pills into 7 separate trays also means you have to set aside a whole sunday afternoon just to fill them all, which is asking a lot from someone already juggling a bunch of meds. I know the system works for some people, but for my dad we actually went back to those simple AM/PM weekly organizers because they were just easier to manage when he was really tired.

Wait have you tried color coding each compartment too? I found that sticking different colored dot stickers on the trays makes it way easier to grab the right one without even reading the label when you're half asleep. I've been sorting for my grandma for about two years now and the removable tray system really is the best time saver, but just make sure you store the morning pills in a bright spot so they don't get mixed up with evening if you're in a rush. The sticker labels work fine on their own, but adding a little color really helps on those days when your brain is just not cooperating.
