PSA: I was planning my mom's care all wrong for 2 years

I always assumed I needed to find one single nursing home and stick with it. Then a social worker at the county senior center told me I could mix home health aides with adult day care. She handed me a list of 4 local providers and showed me how to split the week. Has anyone else tried combining services like that instead of picking just one place?

That "mix home health aides with adult day care" part really hit home for me. I was stuck in that same mindset of picking one place, and it felt like I was failing until my caseworker showed me the same kind of combo plan. It's honestly been a game changer for my mom's care and my own sanity.

Drove me nuts trying to figure out all the moving parts by myself too. What really clicked for me was realizing the adult day care actually gave my dad a reason to get up and moving in the morning, shook off that groggy feeling before the home aide came by later. Most folks don't think about how the two schedules can actually play off each other instead of just covering the same time slot.
