Took me 8 months to get Mom's Medicaid application approved

I started the process for my mom in February here in Ohio and just got the approval letter last week. The problem was a missing bank statement from 2022 that took four months to track down. Has anyone else run into a document request that held up their timeline for way too long?

Patricia nailed it - the direct call is the real hack nobody talks about enough.

You've dealt with this too, right? Honestly, the direct call trick saved my mom's application last year. We were stuck on a rental verification from a landlord who moved to Florida and wouldn't pick up. I called the caseworker, explained the situation, and she said just send a signed letter from my mom instead plus copies of her bank statements showing the rent withdrawals. Took about a week to get approved after that. Ngl, before that call we were going in circles for two months.

Oh honestly the missing bank statement thing is such a nightmare. We had the same exact issue with my dad's application in Ohio back in 2021 where they wanted a statement from a credit union account he closed in 2018. Took us three months to get the credit union to even print something out for us. What finally worked was calling the Medicaid caseworker directly instead of just emailing and asking if they'd accept a signed letter from the bank explaining the account was closed. They actually did take it after I pushed a little. Also keep copies of everything you submit because they'll lose stuff and ask for it again.
