Had no idea rosehip oil actually goes rancid way faster than I thought

I was reading through some ingredient data on a skincare chem blog and found out rosehip oil has a shelf life of like 6 to 9 months if stored right. I had a bottle sitting on my counter for over a year and was still using it on clients lmao. No wonder a few people complained about breakouts after facials. Has anyone else checked their oils lately and found old stock?

@the_oliver I have to disagree a bit, some people might not notice the change at all with proper storage.

Oh man, I made that exact mistake last year! I had a bottle of rosehip oil in my bathroom cabinet for about 10 months and kept wondering why my face felt a little irritated after using it. Turns out it had gone bad and I just didn't recognize the smell yet. Now I always write the date I opened it on the bottle with a sharpie, and I keep it in the fridge to make it last a little longer.

Yep, that rancid smell hits different once you know what to look for.
