Shoutout to the esthetician who warned me about facial fat loss from radio frequency

I saw a client last month who had been doing RF every 2 weeks for 6 months, and her cheeks looked hollow compared to her old intake photos. The tissue underneath just seemed... gone, like the heat melted it away over time. Has anyone else noticed this with frequent RF treatments on thinner faces?

That one client's experience sounds rough, but I'd need more info before I start worrying. Fat loss from things like radio frequency isn't a guaranteed outcome for everyone, a lot depends on the machine settings, how often you go, and your individual skin structure. I'm a pretty skeptical person by nature, and I've heard plenty of cases where people saw no change at all or even got better results from spacing out their sessions more. Your mileage may vary, but I wouldn't panic and cross RF off the list based on one bad story.

Feel for your client, @the_brian. It's rough when you put in time and money and don't see the results you hoped for.

And that totally reminds me of my cousin who tried one of those laser fat removal things. She went for like six sessions and honestly it looked like nothing happened at first. But then like a month after her last appointment she said she noticed her jeans felt a little looser. Her friend did the same treatment and lost like two inches off her waist though. So it really is all over the place with results.
