That viral ad for the $20 phone lens kit had me fooled for a week

I bought a 3 pack of those clip on phone lenses from a Facebook ad last month in Chicago, and all three of them made my photos look like I was shooting through a dirty fishbowl. Has anyone actually found a clip on lens that doesn't distort everything?

Are we sure it's not a user error thing? I grabbed a set off Amazon for like $18 and the wide angle barely bends the edges unless you're really close to the subject. Maybe try holding the phone further back from what you're shooting.

Wait, didn't I read somewhere that those cheap clip-on lenses can mess with your phone's autofocus if the glass isn't aligned right? Something about the magnets in the clip throwing off the OIS. I ended up returning a set because it kept making my camera hunt for focus in good light.

Yeah @fiona_hunt71, backing up can help a ton with those cheap lenses since they're just not as sharp up close.
