A client from Austin paid me 50% up front for a website redesign, then ghosted for a month.
I had already done half the work when they finally emailed to say they lost funding and couldn't pay the rest. What do you even do with a half-finished project when the contract is broken?

Selling a half finished site feels like trying to pawn a car with no engine lol.

Ruby's idea about selling it as a template is smart, but it depends on the code quality. A messy half-built site is just a headache for another developer to fix. It's like selling a car with no engine and a busted transmission. The value is only there if the foundation is solid and well-documented. Otherwise, you're just passing on your problem.

Honestly I'd check if the half you built has any resale value. Like maybe you can strip out the branding and sell it as a template or starter kit to someone else. It's a way to get something back from the work you already did.
