My main client ghosted me right before a big project was supposed to start
It happened about three weeks ago. We had a solid contract for a $5k website redesign, calls were good, and the start date was set. Then, radio silence. No replies to emails or my check-in calls. I had already blocked off two weeks for this job and turned down other work. I felt pretty stuck for a day, but then I dug into my old contacts list. I sent out five quick emails to past clients letting them know I had immediate availability. One of them came back with a smaller, $800 rush job that filled the gap. It wasn't the same money, but it kept me moving. Has anyone else had a client vanish like that right when things were locked in? What's your go-to move to bounce back fast?

You mentioned you had a solid contract. Did you get a deposit or any upfront payment before they went silent? That's always the first thing I lock down now after a similar mess.

Ugh, @kimw57, a contract's useless if they just vanish.

Oh man, I wish I had! The contract was solid on paper, but I got too trusting and skipped the deposit. They paid for the first batch, then ghosted when the big order was ready. Learned that lesson the hard way.
