Just learned how much of the Grand Canyon is actually missing

Tbh, I was reading an old geology textbook and it said over a billion years of rock layers are gone from the canyon due to erosion. I always pictured it as a complete stack. Anyone else have a favorite 'missing piece' of a famous rock formation?

That missing chunk is what makes it so wild to look at.

Yeah I always thought it was a flaw but now I get it.

Actually lucast81, it's not really a missing chunk. The design is intentional, that's just how it was built.
