A guy at the Portland studio told me to always check my propane tank valve before a long session

I was setting up for a big piece last month, and an older blower saw me just hooking up my torch. He stopped me and said, 'Kid, that valve is weeping. You can smell it.' He was right. I had a tiny, slow leak I never would have noticed. He showed me how to use soapy water to check the whole line. That five minute talk probably saved my shop. Anyone else have a close call with their gas setup?

Yikes, that's a good reminder. I check mine with the soapy water trick now too. Scary how easy it is to miss.

My cousin once melted his boot sole to the garage floor.

My buddy Mike lost his eyebrows in '19 because his acetylene hose had a crack near the regulator.
