The "tactile crunch of erasing a hit marker" line got me, because that pencil dust on the table was half the game for me. I finally caved and put my old Squad Leader counters into a spreadsheet last year, and while it saves a ton of time during setup, I still catch myself reaching for a pencil that isn't there. There's something about scribbling damage on a roster sheet at 1am that an app just can't copy, no matter how clean the screen looks. My group switched to digital wound tracking for our campaign and I felt guilty for a week, like I'd sold out my own childhood or something.

Small thing, but bootlegs from that era are rarely true "soundboard" tapes. Real board feeds were hard to get and most club tapes are audience recordings with a mic hidden in a jacket, which is why you hear the crowd so clearly. The whispering and polite claps actually point to an audience source, not a direct mix off the desk. Still a fun find though, those rough tapes catch stuff the official live albums always cleaned up.
