inA senior dev told me to stop asking for permission on small fixes
Yeah, that "line in the sand" thing is key. My old boss had a similar rule about not needing a meeting for anything that could be a two sentence email. It saved so much time just to act on the small stuff.

inHeard my kid ask if we could just buy a new shelf instead of fixing the old one
Yeah, it's everywhere. My car's tire pressure light comes on and my first thought isn't to check the tires, it's to google what the code means. Same with a weird noise from the fridge. We're trained to look for the error message, not the actual source. Just replace the part or call the expert. That basic step of looking with your own eyes and thinking it through is getting lost.

inQuestion about using a password manager versus my old notebook
My buddy fell for a fake PayPal page that looked perfect except the URL said "paypa1-login.com". He lost like two hundred bucks before he froze his card. Now he won't even click a link without pasting it into a notepad app first.

inMy therapist recommended meds, but I read about big pharma ties.
My old therapist got a free vacation from a drug company, that's a real thing that happens. It made me question everything she said. I still take my meds because they work for me, but I get why people don't trust it. The whole system feels dirty even when the pills themselves are clean.

inShoutout to the inspector who caught my missing fire wall detail
Classic case of copy-paste catching up to you. Those IBC updates are sneaky like that. At least the inspector found it before it got built, that's a way worse phone call. My old boss used to say every red mark saves a future lawsuit. Still stings though.
