My new AI voice assistant went totally silent during a big presentation

I was giving a talk at a local tech meetup in Austin last Thursday, and I had set up this new AI tool called 'VoxFlow' to handle my slide changes and pull up data on command. It worked fine in my tests at home, but right in the middle of my demo, it just stopped listening. I said the wake word three times, and nothing. The room got really quiet while I fumbled with my laptop to get things moving again. I had to click through the rest of the slides myself. It felt like the whole thing just gave up on me. I'm guessing the room's acoustics or maybe the wifi messed it up. Has anyone else had an AI helper fail at a bad time like that? What did you do to fix it?

Tell me about it, my smart speaker froze during a birthday toast last month. You just stand there looking at a dumb plastic cylinder, right? Total silence is the worst kind of failure.

Oh man, that's brutal. I keep a cheap Bluetooth speaker charged in a kitchen drawer for exactly this. When the smart one glitches, you just hit the pairing button and switch your phone over. It's not elegant, but it beats staring at a frozen cylinder while everyone waits. The key is having a backup that doesn't need the internet.

Austin tech meetups always have the worst wifi for that stuff.
