Lady in my building said her fridge was making a weird noise for three days, like a high-pitched meow. I opened up the back panel expecting a bad fan motor, and a tiny grey kitten stared back at me from near the compressor. It must have crawled up through the vent in the basement. For years I ignored the grading service at Comics Plus in Toledo, thinking it was just a way to charge extra. Then I brought in a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 I found in my uncle's attic, and they sent it to CGC for me. It came back a 9.2 and sold for over $800, which was three times what I expected. Has anyone else been surprised by how much proper grading can change a book's value?

He pulled me aside after the turn-in and said, 'Your smoke ring is perfect, but I can't taste the meat past the salt.' I was using Morton's kosher, measuring by volume. Switched to Diamond Crystal and started weighing it instead. The difference in crystal size and density was huge. Now I use 1/2 ounce per pound of meat, weighed, and the flavor balance is way better. Anyone else have a judge's critique that actually improved your process?
