The $7 grocery bag trick that fixed my fridge organization nightmare

I got tired of losing leftovers in the back of my fridge and finding moldy containers 3 weeks later. Tried those expensive fridge organizers from Amazon, they fell apart in 2 months. Then I grabbed a 10-pack of cheap reusable grocery bags from Aldi for $7, tied each one loosely around a different category of food (dairy, meats, veggies). Now I can grab the whole bag out and see everything at once, no digging. Has anyone else found a random household item that solved a specific problem better than the product made for it?

You said "tied each one loosely around a different category of food" and I admit that when I first read that I thought it sounded like too much work. But then I thought about it more and realized I was wrong. I used to buy those plastic fridge organizers from the home goods store and they always broke or got gross after a few washes. The grocery bag trick is actually genius because it is flexible and you can wash them or replace them for almost nothing. I tried it with my lunch meat and cheese drawers last week and it cleared up so much space. It is funny how the simple cheap solutions sometimes work better than the stuff they make on purpose for the problem.

Yeah the plastic organizers are such a waste. I bought a three pack of those mesh basket things for the fridge and two of them cracked within a month. Now I just use old bread bags for things like carrots and celery. They fit better because they squish into whatever space is leftover and I can just toss them when they get grimy. I even use the little produce bags from the grocery store to wrap up half used onions and bell peppers. It honestly works way better than anything I ever bought on purpose.

Read somewhere that old pillowcases work great for storing potatoes and onions too.
