Finally got a clean signal trace on that stubborn comms box
I used to just swap the whole unit after a quick check, but after a 3-hour ground delay last month, I started using the manual's full step-by-step. Found a corroded pin in connector J4 that was causing the intermittent fault. What's your go-to method for chasing down a ghost signal?

Oh man, chasing ghosts... my go-to method usually involves a lot of frustrated sighing and checking the same thing three times. Finally learned to just start at the power source and work out from there, saves me from my own dumb assumptions. That J4 pin is a classic troublemaker, good catch.

That J4 pin has fooled me before too, but sometimes the real problem ends up being something simple like a loose cable.

Honestly though, doesn't starting with all the connections just make you check the power cables twice? Tbh if you test the power source first and it's good, you can rule out a whole chunk of the system right away. Ngl, checking every single plug before even knowing if there's voltage feels like extra steps. I've seen people spend an hour reseating cables when the wall outlet was just dead.

You really think starting at the power source is the best move? I've wasted so much time doing that when the issue was a tiny, dumb connector like J4. My method is to check ALL the connections first, because it's fast and easy. If everything is plugged in tight, THEN I go deeper into the system. Skipping straight to the power supply feels like overcomplicating a simple fix most of the time.
