Caught a vendor charging $150/hr for data entry we found on Fiverr for $12

I run a small logistics firm in Phoenix and we outsourced some client database cleanup last month. My admin noticed the invoices looked high for the hours billed so I dug deeper. Turns out the B2B service provider we hired was literally copy-pasting from a cheap freelancer they paid peanuts. They marked it up 12x and called it 'enterprise data management'. I compared the output quality side by side and it was identical down to the font sizes. Has anyone else caught their outsourced partner reselling bargain bin work at premium rates?

That's brutal, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Really makes you question who you can trust when they're just running it through a middleman. Did you end up reporting them or just switching vendors?

I read an article about how common this is in home services, sadly.

The $150/hr vs $12 thing is wild but honestly I had a similar thing happen with my landscaping crew. We hired a company to handle the sprinkler system and turns out they subcontracted it to a guy who showed up in a beat up truck from Craigslist. Charged us premium for "eco friendly irrigation" and the guy was just adjusting a timer. Did you keep the Fiverr profile info to compare?
