That whole 'we need a signed PO before any work' thing hurts small providers
I run a small IT support shop in Cleveland (just me and one other guy) and we keep losing clients because bigger companies insist on a signed PO before we can even look at their server. Last month a potential client said 'sorry, our procurement process takes 4 to 6 weeks' but their network was already down. How do you other small operators handle this without just eating the risk?

Right, just tell your clients to print a PO from their own printer. Works great, right?

@xena582 how many times have you personally had to retype a PO from a blurry printout?

The last time I tried that, the PO came out looking like a ransom note with the barcode folded straight through the QR code. Client was confused why the warehouse wouldn't accept a crumpled piece of printer paper with half the numbers smudged off. We ended up having to manually type everything into the system anyway. So yeah, works great if your definition of great includes extra work and confused warehouse guys.
