Finally chose between two job offers after 3 weeks of stress
I had to pick between a higher paying gig with a 45 minute commute and a lower one that's 10 minutes from my house. I went with the closer one and my gas bill dropped $160 last month alone. Has anyone else made a similar call and regretted it or been happy about it?

I think you made the right call honestly. I did something similar a few years back, took a pay cut to work closer to home, and my stress levels dropped so much. That extra 35 minutes each way adds up fast, not just in gas but in your own time and energy. You can't put a price on being able to pop home for lunch or run an errand without it eating your whole evening. The money you save on gas is real, but the peace of mind is even bigger. I've never once looked back and wished I was sitting in traffic instead.

Saw a study recently that said the average person spends like a full work week every month just commuting. Crazy when you actually do the math on that.

Wish someone had told me that 15 years ago before I spent half my 20s on a highway. Pretty sure my car knew my commute better than my own family did.
