Found $47 in an old coat pocket last Tuesday and it felt like a bonus paycheck

I was digging out my winter jacket for a cold morning and pulled out three crumpled twenties and some change I forgot I stashed there. Has anyone else had a random cash find that totally saved a tight week?

Nah man I gotta disagree here. Finding random cash in a coat pocket isn't a bonus, it's just you being bad at keeping track of your money. That $47 was already yours, you just forgot about it. It didn't come from anywhere new. If anything it shows you're disorganized with your finances lol. I found $20 in a jeans pocket once and felt like a fool for not remembering I had it.

Flip that logic around though - that $47 might be a free pass from future-you to past-you. You found a little gift your past self left behind, so just enjoy the win and stop overthinking it.

Haha that's exactly what I did last year! I found a crumpled $50 in an old hoodie I hadn't worn since winter and my first thought was free money, but then I remembered I put it there for a charity run registration I never mailed in. I took my wife out for breakfast with it and told her the story, we had a good laugh about my terrible memory. So yeah, sometimes it's not a gift from past you, it's just past you being a mess, but you can still turn it into a win.

My buddy Dave found $60 in a winter jacket he hadn't worn since last March and thought he hit the jackpot. I had to break it to him like @the_eric did, that's just his own money coming back to him. He then remembered he stashed it there for a concert ticket and forgot all about it. Ended up buying us both tacos with it, so at least the confusion was delicious. That cash was his the whole time, he just sucks at keeping track.
