A barista at a local shop told me my pour-over technique was ruining the bloom

She said I was pouring too fast and not letting the coffee degas properly, so I slowed way down and now I get a much smoother cup, has anyone else had a stranger correct their method and actually been grateful for it?

Honestly, I was one of those people who thought "it's just coffee, how complicated can it be?" but after a barista at this local spot told me I was drowning my grounds I actually tried slowing down. Ngl, I used to just dump all the water at once and wonder why my cup tasted bitter. Now I do a slow spiral pour and let it sit for like 30 seconds before adding more water. It changed my whole morning routine.

Dude yeah I used to think people were just making coffee sound harder than it needed to be. But honestly trying that slow pour thing changed my mind too, it actually tastes way less bitter.

Wait so you let it sit 30 seconds before adding more? Do you do that every time or just with certain beans?
