inThe wool blanket from my childhood camping trips still keeps me warm
Man, that pine and smoke smell must be Incredible. I've got this old flannel shirt that still smells like my dad's workshop, all sawdust and machine oil. Every time I put it on, I'm instantly back there, handing him tools while he fixed the lawnmower. It's like the fabric soaked up all those Saturday mornings. Now when I have a rough day, I just bury my face in that shirt and it Calms me right down. Those old smells are Pure magic for bringing back the good times.

inWhy I started listening to the machine instead of just the computer
Beyond that sizzle sound, bakers use smell to know when bread's done.

inPacking my own grub for a month-long saturation job
Yeah, I got sick of the same old slop real fast. My go-to was beef jerky and those little babybel cheeses, they don't need fridge space for ages. Also, those flavored tuna pouches over canned, way easier. Ate that stuff with whole wheat crackers for a meal that actually kept me full through a long deco stop.

inWhy does nobody talk about how bad management kills creativity in glass shops?
Wait, but blaming all management is missing the point. A good manager knows when to step in and when to back off. For example, setting up the annealer schedule is help, not control. But breathing down someone's neck while they're on the pipe? That's just anxiety in glass form. The best shops I've been in had bosses who solved problems, not created them.

inUpdate: My conference trip has me stuck on airplane pollution
That line about planes just burning fuel at Newark hit hard... I flew to Chicago last year for a "crucial" handshake meeting in a fancy suit. The guy just re-sent the same PDF I'd already seen. Felt like a fancy extra in my own pointless movie.
