Had an old-timer at a shop in Portland show me why I was bleeding brakes wrong for 10 years

I was at this little independent shop in Portland last spring helping a buddy with a 98 F-150. Old guy named Don walks over, watches me pump the pedal for 20 minutes, and just says 'you're fighting yourself, kid.' He showed me this gravity bleed method where you just crack the bleeder and let it drip for an hour. Fixed the whole system in less time than I usually spend fighting air bubbles. Has anyone else switched from the traditional two-person bleed to something simpler?

Had a client in Seattle teach me something about lymphatic drainage I never learned in school

She came in for a routine facial and mentioned she does self-massage for her TMJ, and when I watched her technique I realized I've been way too heavy handed on the neck. Anyone else ever have a client casually drop knowledge that totally shifted how you work?

That Chloe apology video had me counting her blinks

I was watching Chloe's 8 minute apology for the whole influencer trip scandal. I tried her usual trick where she looks away and talks slowly. But I counted 4 times she blinked fast and looked down. That's the sign she's making it up as she goes. I think she was reading off a script behind the camera. Anyone else catch the weird eye movements?

Tried using a circular saw jig for drawer sides and messed up a whole sheet of plywood

I was working on a kitchen job in Mesa last week and tried to save time by building a quick jig for cutting drawer sides on my circular saw. The jig slipped halfway through the cut and ruined a $90 sheet of Baltic birch before I even got two pieces cut. Anybody got a go-to method for keeping jigs locked down tight on the first pass?

Had to choose between engineered click-lock and glue-down for a basement in Denver

Went with glue-down after a buddy who does commercial work warned me about moisture issues with click-lock in basements. It was way more tedious but three months in and no seam peaking or buckling - anyone else regret going click-lock in a below grade space?

Worst Tuesday I've ever had on a Schindler 330A in downtown Chicago

I was swapping a door operator motor on the 12th floor of an office tower when the mainline disconnect switch arced and blew the whole floor's power... took me 7 hours to get a maintenance guy to let me back in the electrical room. Anyone else ever have a simple repair turn into a whole building blackout?

Maple Street biodiesel is giving filters a hard time

Over the past month, three trucks in my shop came in with the same problem. All had filled up at the new biodiesel station on Maple. The filters were packed with a waxy residue. It seems their blend doesn't play nice in cold weather. One owner had to replace the entire fuel system. I'd avoid that place until they sort it out. Save yourself a tow and a headache.
